Learning at IMS
At IMS we understand that every student may need support at some stage of their learning journey.
Our learning support team recognizes that each student has a unique learning profile. We follow a flexible range of developmentally appropriate strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Our approach supports both formally identified and informally recognized students, working collaboratively, to devise tailored solutions for each individual. We monitor student progress and performance closely, offering support either in the classroom, small groups or individually, to ensure sentimental and academic growth and success.
GREEK AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE
(GAL Programme)
One of our school’s primary goals is to support students whose native language is not Greek in acquiring the social and academic language skills necessary for their successful integration into school life with their peers as quickly as possible.
As a result, the GAL (Greek as an Additional Language) programme is offered for at least three hours per week during the main Greek language lessons. Once students have reached a satisfactory level of Greek proffciency that enables them to function socially, they are fully integrated into their regular class during Greek language lessons
LIBRARY
IMS Library “Dimosthenis” is a vibrant place for learning through inquiry. It is a safe, warm space to study either individually or in groups. It has IT and printing facilities and of course support and guidance by our librarian.
SCIENCE
Science learning at IMS is mostly a hand-on experience in our Chemistry Lab “Democritus” and our Physics Lab “Archimedes”.
This way our pupils experience scientific concepts physically, and therefore they understand them more deeply, promoting their motivation, inquiry, and engagement.
INTERNATIONALISM AND DIVERSITY
International education is about understanding and learning about different cultures, respecting them, cooperating with classmates from different countries, developing global citizenship, and accepting the differences in a world that can make us reach out to each other instead of turning us into enemies.

TRAVELLING FOR RESEARCH, RECREATION, FURTHER EDUCATION, AND COUNSELLING
As an International School that follows the IB Curriculum, the pupil, as a researcher, must get as close as possible to what actually happened during WWII worldwide, understanding primary and secondary sources and using them, in order to develop critical thinking and analytical skills. To accomplish this, students are trained to examine meaning, context, point of view, purpose, bias, through travelling, for about 2-4 days, usually to:
MYP 2 (GRADE 7, 1st of Greek Gymnasium): PELOPONNESUS, KALAVRYTA
MYP 3 (GRADE 8, 2nd of Greek Gymnasium): MACEDONIA, THESSALONIKI, FORT “ROUPEL”
MYP 4 (GRADE 9, 3d of Greek Gymnasium): CYPRUS
MYP 5 (GRADE 10, 1st of Greek Lyceum): EPIRUS, IOANNINA
Also, students travel abroad every year, in order to connect with other IB schools, work together, learn about cultures and history, bond with their school mates and have fun!

LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
Offering opportunities to students to act and have their voice heard.
Teachers from IMS and students from MYP spent a week at Kenya, visiting the “Smile Community Centre Children’s home”. They gained knowledge from primary sources on how some children live, they played, discussed and spent time together. They realized that every small donation or a little bit of our time can make a big difference.
